Corporate Rosters at 2011 Tour of Utah Give Professional Cycling Event Boost for August Race

Salt Lake City, Utah

The Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah professional cycling event features a who's who of rosters, both on and off the race course. The 2011 event, August 9-14, is a showcase of some of the best cyclists in the world. On the periphery, it is the commitment of the corporate community that has made the growth of the event possible.

The Tour of Utah gained stature from the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI - global governing body for sport of cycling) as a 2.1-rated stage race earlier this year. It is now one of the top three stage races for road cycling in North America. On the sports side this year, only top-level professional teams, 16 in all, are invited to compete, and five of the teams just completed the Tour de France. In just seven years, the race has gone from a three-day race for individuals and regional teams to a six-day race for professional teams with national television coverage and live webcasting for a worldwide audience.

"It's an honor to be able to organize and host a professional event of this caliber. This is really big for Utah. We're very grateful to have continued enthusiasm from fans all across the country. And the corporate support has been phenomenal. We look for a great sixth edition of the race," said Steve Miller, president of Utah Cycling Partnership which owns the Tour of Utah. In all, there are a record local and national 74 sponsors for 2011.

In 2008 the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies revived the race as the title sponsor. The Utah-based company, now with 80 businesses and properties primarily in the western United States, is in its fourth year as the leading sponsor and event owner. In addition to naming rights for the event, the company will receive high visibility with the Larry H. Miller Dealerships leader's jersey.

In all, there are six companies with top billing on the award jerseys. Other primary assets at a professional cycling event continue to be the association with the Prologue and daily stages, partnership branding on trusses that designate the official start line and finish line each day, and media partnerships.

Official Partners (branding on start/finish trusses) - Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED), the Utah Office of Tourism, an agency of GOED, the Utah Sports Commission and Zions Bank.

Jersey Sponsors - Larry H. Miller Dealerships Leader's jersey, XO Communications Sprint jersey, Ski Utah King of the Mountain (KOM) jersey, Subaru Best Young Rider jersey, Vivint Most Aggressive Rider jersey and Miller Lite Best Utah Rider jersey.

Stage Sponsors - Prologue presented by KJZZ TV and 1320 KFAN (Utah Olympic Park in Park City), Stage One presented by Miller Lite (Ogden), Stage Two presented by Adobe (start at XANGO/finish in Provo), Stage Three presented by UnitedHealthcare (Miller Motorsports Park), Stage Four presented by University of Utah Health Care (Salt Lake City), and Stage Five presented by Zions Bank (Park City to Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort).

Media Partners - FOX Sports Network (85+ million homes by way of two dozen regional sports network affiliates), ROOT Sports (regional coverage reaches more than 2.6 million viewers across nine states), KJZZ TV (local coverage), Velo (national cycling magazine) and Tour Tracker® powered by Adobe. For all broadcast coverage, check local listings for one-hour and two-hour recap programming August 9-14. Tour Tracker will deliver comprehensive live coverage including broadcast video, real-time GPS location, speed, slope and elevation data, commentary and social media feeds for all stages.

The 2011 Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah continues to be free to all spectators, making professional cycling one of the most unique pro sports in the world today. Information about teams, Health and Wellness Expo presented by UnitedHealthcare, national television coverage on FOX Sports Network and the Host Venues can be found by visiting, with updates on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
