KarbonEye™ : 20-Years Research, Carbon, ImpactX Revolutionize Sports Eyewear

Rudy Project® has once again pushed the boundaries of design, science and materials application with their new 2009 blockbuster performance model, the KarbonEye™. Made with pure carbon fiber, Kynetium, and our revolutionary ImpactX™ lens material, the KarbonEye tops anything on the market in terms of adjustability, optics, strength, comfort and performance.

"Rudy Project is a company comprised of the world's best design engineers and athletes from all sports at all levels, which gives us a broad and deep pool of knowledge to draw from when creating a new breakthrough sport sunglass model," added Paul Craig, Rudy Project North America's President and Co-Founder. "That, along with our drive to provide the best in sport optics, is why we continue to break new ground in style, performance and design. And, it is why I believe we are always the best in the market."

The KarbonEye features a revolutionary stainless steel temple core bonded with pure carbon fiber, an extremely light and durable material, and over injected with protective ergonomic megol. This unique piece is mounted to the new ImpactX™ photochromic shield, delivering both wrap-around protection and light management. Equipped with their latest innovative co-injected Ergo IV™ fully-adjustable nosepiece, the KarbonEye is a high-end technical breakthrough for sport enthusiasts and represents the culmination of more than 20 years of research, design and Italian craftsmanship.

"I have been waiting 20 years for a glass like the KarbonEye - a rimless photochromic that is specifically designed for athletes," added John Stamstad, Mountain Bike Hall of Famer and long-time industry representative. "There is no frame to get in your field of view, the optics are amazing, no backside glare, and you have the total protection of ImpactX. Best of all, whether I am running, cycling or skiing, I can forget that they are even there."

For those who use prescription lenses, the KarbonEye, a 6 base shield, offers a stainless steel over injected proprietary optical insert. The KarbonEye is available in four options: the Carbon / Red frame with ImpactX Photochromic Red lens and the White Carbon / Black frame with a choice of ImpactX Photochromic Clear, Polar 3FX Grey or Laser Black lens.
