International Bicycle Fund / Ibike Update for November, 2007

11.22.2006
Seattle, Washington

SUMMARY OF IBF ACTIVITIES
The majority of the information flow that we create goes out through our website. These visits to the website then generates a huge amount of email. The nicest of these praise the breadth and helpfulness of the information that we make available. Another chunk of messages suggest helpful addition and edits to the website. We appreciate these as well. But, the biggest volume of mail (second to spam) is inquiries on an almost infinite variety of questions from how to implement programs promoting bicycle transportation, to sources of bicycle safety education materials, statistics on bicycle use, life-style questions on cultural around the world and much more. We do our best to respond everybody with helpful information or to point the in a better direction - generally this is uncompensated.

SUMMARY OF WEBSITE UPDATES
We update something on our website on almost every day and update dozens of pages every month. The pages with the most significant changes in the last couple months are: Donating Surplus Bicycles & International Bicycle Recycling Programs, www.ibike.org/environment/recycling/index.htm: We reorganized this section and added new material.

Community Bike programs, www.ibike.org/encouragement/freebike.htm: Updated and added resources to several pages in the section.

Youth Bike Programs, www.ibike.org/encouragement/youth-directory.htm: Updated and added resources.

Cultural and historical commentary, with images and some idiosyncratic musing for the Washington State/British Columbia "Rolling the Salish Sea Program," www.ibike.org/ibike/salish/islands/index.htm.

Bicycling in Korea: We added to both www.ibike.org/engineering/korea/index.htm and www.ibike.org/ibike/korea/east/index.htm. In October, the top three most popular content pages on our website were the pages on infants and bicycling and buying a bike in the education section and pages on bicycle history.

2007 CYCLE & RECYCLE CALENDAR
"Cycle & Recycle 2007," an 11" x 17" full-color wall calendar is available. This calendar celebrates bicycle as an everyday transportation vehicle, in every season, throughout the world. Included with each month are remarkable photos of the bicycle as art and utility, captions, and provocative quotations and illustrations. In keeping with its title, the calendar can saves us trees and paper - it is reusable again in 2018 and 2029 when the 2007 calendar "recycles". It is a perfect gift for any bicyclist. They make perfect Christmas, Chanukah, and Kwanza gifts. For more information see, www.ibike.org/calendar/index.htm
