Bionicon Proves its Versatility at Keyesville

Bionicon Riders prove their bikes all-mountain capabilities and versatility at the 20th Annual Keyesville Classic Race

The 20th Annual Keyesville Classic treated spectators and competitors to a memorable weekend with incredibly fun race venues and demanding weather ranging from sun to snow. Bionicon Backcountry Mountainbikes title sponsored this great event in the scenic Kern Valley, hosting a field of over 200 riders from across the Western United States including a respectable pro contingency.

New to this years' event was the Bionicon All-Mountain Stage Race. This exciting format challenged riders to compete in Downhill, Short Track and Cross-Country events all on the same bike, including mandatory weigh-in and inspections. The fun and well received All-Mountain event had no age divisions, only racing classes, and the winner was determined by a point system that allowed the best all around riders and bikes to shine.

Bionicon team riders' validated the claim that Bionicon makes the most versatile all-mountain bike by taking podium spots in the men's Pro, Expert and Sport categories of the All-Mountain event, as well as many respectable podium placements in their individual groups.

Riding a Bionicon Frequency, the youngest All-Mountain competitor 13 year-old Ryan Geiger charged to an overall victory in the sport class and took the entire field in sport short track. Steve Messer, riding the 160mm travel SuperShuttle, also joined Ryan on the All Mountain podium in third place.

Jared Berg, riding a Bionicon Golden Willow, won the men's Expert All-Mountain and dominated the entire expert field in the Short-Track event. "I had a really great time in the All-Mountain event and couldn't have asked for a better bike. I can't wait to come back next year and race on a Golden Willow Scandium," Berg stated.

Pro Rider Chewy Aitken, also on a Golden Willow, took third place in the Pro All-Mountain and an impressive second place in the Pro Downhill with only 120mm of rear travel.

The secret of Bionicon's performance is the On-the-Fly adjustability of the bikes. Riders dramatically change the bike's geometry and handling characteristics with the touch of a button, Bionicon bikes climb efficiently and charge downhill confidently.

The 2008 Keyesville Classic was a very successful and fun event, a true classic with its 20-year history. Both the race organizers and Bionicon USA look forward to continued success in having bigger and better events for years to come. Put the Keyesville Classic on your calendar for 2009!
