Ten Things IMBA Did For Mountain Biking in 2009
We're making a list, checking it twice ... It's a tradition at IMBA to issue a list of 10 things we did for mountain bikers as the calendar year comes to a close. This time, we are also looking ahead to 10 more things we will do in the year ahead. None of the accomplishments below would be possible without the generous giving provided by our individual members, affiliated clubs, corporate supporters and other partners in the IMBA family. Please consider making a contribution to the annual fund today and helping us achieve even bigger successes in 2010.

Final Weeks to Comment on Plan for Biking in LA Parks

WTB and IMBA Team for Successful 'Sales for Trails' Program
California-based Wilderness Trail Bikes (WTB) and IMBA have worked in partnership to create a successful Sales for Trails promotion to benefit mountain bikers. This fall, WTB agreed to donate 10 percent of the value of all preseason orders to support trail crews, bike shops and local advocacy groups working to preserve and expand trail systems. The sales program began at the Interbike tradeshow and ran through the end of October. "The goal was to support IMBA with $10,000 in product through this program, and we greatly exceeded that mark," said Gary Gleason, WTB's sales director. "Our contribution will make a real difference to trailwork and advocacy." The WTB gear will be used to enhance local and regional festivals and trailbuilding events, and will be distributed through IMBA's regional directors and national staff.

Team IMBA Participants Raised Over $80,000 for Trails
Congratulations to the 87 members of Team IMBA 2009, who together raised a total of $84,937 for mountain biking in 2009. Led by title sponsor GT Bicycles, the Team IMBA fundraising program allows mountain bikers to raise funds for local and national trailbuilding projects by doing what they love to do most -- riding their bikes. The 2009 participants collected nearly $50,000 in donations, and with the help of a generous challenge grant from SRAM they sent nearly $60,000 to local mountain bike clubs and more than $20,000 for IMBA trailbuilding projects. Custom team jerseys gave Team IMBA an unmistakable presence at every event and provided a great reward for joining the cause.

Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew Announces New Hire for 2010
IMBA is proud to announce the hire of a new Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew team. Steve and Morgan Lommele will replace Kelly and Collins Bishop, who are leaving the road after two years of excellent service. Steve and Morgan have some very big workboots to fill, but their strong combination of work and mountain bike experience makes them a great fit for one of IMBA's flagship field programs. The Lommeles currently live in Boulder, CO. They have extensive experience with public speaking, facilitation, collaborative processes, communications and, of course, mountain biking! Morgan and Steve are leaving behind jobs as facilitator/mediator for an environmental consulting firm and communications specialist for the National Renewable Energy Lab (respectively) to head out on the road in a Subaru. As an added bonus, they both hold Masters degrees in Environmental Policy and Management and have travelled to 49 of the nation's 50 states, as well as every world continent (minus Antarctica).
