Ales and Trails Celebration Draws Hundreds
This year was historic for the Ales and Trails event, drawing record attendance, raising more than $8,000 for IMBA California and rewarding 10 local trail heroes with more than $3,500 worth of top quality gear! Perfect weather, great trails, demo bikes and riding clinics, combined with gourmet BBQ, beer sampling, and live music made for a great event. We would like to thank all of our sponsors, special guests, volunteers and all those who attended for making this year's event a tremendous success.

Successful SoCal Summit Held at Shimano Headquarters
In June, IMBA California held a summit hosted by Shimano in Irvine CA. Members of the mountain bike community, club leaders, industry representatives, land managers and equestrians shared information, best practices on trail management and methods for creating effective trail advocacy. Kozo Shimano was there to graciously welcome the participants. Lunch and refreshments were provided by Subaru. As usual, Specialized Bicycles was present to lend a hand in policy discussions. It was a productive day with numerous ideas generated for future networking and advocacy activities.

Save the Dates! Join a Mountain High Gathering of NorCal Clubs Aug. 9-10
Join host club FATRAC along with ROMP, BONC and MBOSC for a weekend at Donner Lake, August 9-10. The clubs are planning a day of trailwork on the Donner Lake Rim Trail, plus riding and fun (of course!). Each club has reserved campsites at Donner Lake State Park and space is limited. Contact your club, or Patrick McDaniel at mcdanielp@gmail.com, for details.

CLIF Bar Gift Cards Benefit Trips for Kids
Looking for an easy way to support Trips for Kids? Purchase a CLIF Bar On Your Behalf gift card and chose Trips for Kids as the recipient of the gift. On Your Behalf is a gift card program that allows recipients to contribute to 23 grassroots organizations. They focus on a wide array of social concerns including environmental restoration and conservation, sustainable food systems and agriculture, youth programs and public health.

Choose Any MTB Event and Raise $$$ for Local Trails
New for 2008, IMBA's Team IMBA program now allows you to designate any mountain bike event as your target ride. You'll train for and complete the ride while raising money for local and national trailbuilding efforts with our online tools. It's a great way to show your passion for IMBA and your local affiliated club. If you were hoping to ride in the signature Team IMBA event at the 24 Hours of Moab don't fret! We will still be there -- with full support for all Team IMBA riders, including hot meals, reserved camping, pro mechanics, massages and no-hassle registration.

Take a Kid Mountain Biking on Oct. 4
Once again, IMBA will be providing support, schwag and publicity for clubs that host Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day events. This year's celebration will be held on Oct. 4, with help from Schwinn, Smartwool, CLIF Organic ZBar and Trips for Kids. California clubs always put on some of the nation's biggest and best events -- we're looking forward to seeing the reports this fall!
