New York City Sees New Riding Facility
The master trailbuilders on IMBA's Trail Solutions team team recently teamed with sponsored SRAM riders Jeff Lenosky and Kyle Ebbett to create a unique, urban trail project in New York City's Highbridge Park. Judd de Vall, a former pro downhiller and expert trail designer who now works with Trail Solutions, contributed this dirt-sculpting prowess to the project. Bike Advocates Flood Capitol Hill
The National Bike Summit is the premier annual cycling advocacy event in our nation's capital; IMBA is proud to have been a leading sponsor in 2007. Last month, mountain bikers from around the nation gathered in Washington to promote a special dirt-centric agenda, focusing on mountain bike advocacy, land preservation and economic development.

Rich Cook Assumes Develop Director Duties
Concluding a national search, IMBA has selected Rich Cook as its new Development Director. An active figure in the outdoor industry, Cook has worked with several sports oriented non-profit organizations over his career. In his new role, Cook will oversee development and fundraising, including corporate memberships, sponsorships, government and foundation grants, and contributions.

Crews on Nationwide Blogging Spree
The Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crews are rolling again in 2007. TCC-ers Anna Laxague and Jason Wells recently visited Prescott, AZ, and filed an online slideshow. Meanwhile, Kristin Butcher and Ryan Schutz have been all over the new IMBA blog.

Action Alert Protects Ohio Trails
Last year, mountain bikers took action to save important trails in Ohio. Because thousands of trail users wrote letters, signed petitions and made phone calls to protest destructive timber clearing, 25 miles of premier Ohio singletrack will remain intact after Texas-based Columbia Gas proposed a series of large clearcuts in Mohican State Park.

Wales Tale: New Riding Center Opens
A powerhouse for the rural economy was launched in Wales last week. The £ 1.6m visitor centre opened at at Coed y Brenin near Dolgellau, where world-class trails snaking out into the surrounding forest are seen as a magnet for thousands of tourists and mountain bikers.

Bikes Belong Urges Action on DOT Funds
Your help is needed now to protect funding for bicycle projects in your state.The federal government is requiring state Departments of Transportation (DOT) to return a percentage of the money they were awarded for transportation projects in SAFETEA-LU - the $286.5 billion federal transportation law passed in 2005. Women's Riding Camps on Tap
This spring, IMBA will launch an exciting new partnership, teaming with the Dirt Series by Rocky Mountain Bicycles to offer mountain biking skills instruction to women of all levels. Two special IMBA camps, in Hood River (OR) and Park City (UT), will draw women from around the country to celebrate the sport of mountain biking. IMBA is expanding programs that enhance the riding experience... watch for additional events this year.
