Champion Athletes and Renowned Coaches Share the Dramatic Results They've Achieved Using Acid Zapper™ with Alka-Plex®

New mineral supplement helps athletes maintain performance-critical pH balance for extreme, endurance and team sport competitions.

Seattle-based supplement company TAMER Laboratories, Inc. today released a sample of the extraordinary feedback and endorsements they've received from champion athletes and renowned coaches in response to their new pH health product, Acid Zapper™ with Alka-Plex®. Acid Zapper is a cutting edge category of mineral supplements that help endurance athletes maintain proper pH balance, improve performance and speed recovery time.

An impressive collection of influential athletes and coaches have now reported dramatic results using Acid Zapper, including Tim Becker, director of the CompuTrainer MultiRider Center and USA Triathlon Age Group Master Male Duathlete of 2005; John Howard, a Cycling Hall of Fame member, three-time cycling Olympian, and head coach of the School of Champions at John Howard Performance Sports; Scott Horns, a USA Triathlon coach at Bella Multisport Coaching; Richard Wharton, a USA Cycling Elite Coach who heads up; Jay Marschell, a USA Triathlon Level 2 coach at Coach Jay Training; and Simon Butterworth, a USA Triathlon Level I coach in Louisville, Colorado.

"With most supplements you don't notice anything," says John Howard. "With Acid Zapper you do notice a difference. You feel it and you respond to it almost immediately – at least I do." Howard's endorsement is characteristic of the feedback TAMER has received. "As an athlete and a cycling coach, I don't have any qualms at all about telling people to try Acid Zapper," says Howard. "I continually recommend it and give athletes samples to try. So far, the response has been 100% positive."

"We've been overwhelmed by the early adopter response to Acid Zapper," says Dr. Robert Burns, president of TAMER Laboratories. "To us, it's particularly significant that coaches are going on record about the benefits of Acid Zapper, because coaches know that they don't just speak for themselves. They're role models; athletes look to them for guidance. They take that responsibility very seriously. And we at TAMER take very seriously our responsibility to help athletes achieve performance breakthroughs safely and healthfully."

Developed by TAMER Laboratories, Inc. specifically to help endurance and team athletes achieve peak performance and quicker recovery times, Acid Zapper combats pH imbalance and excess hydrogen ion buildup in muscles by naturally controlling the acid wastes generated when carbohydrates, proteins, and fats metabolize during intense athletic exertion. Acid Zapper is safe and legal, containing no steroids, stimulants, caffeine or sugars. (All Acid Zapper ingredients are allowed by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) and are Generally Regarded as Safe (GRAS) by the FDA.) In January 2006, a five-week Acid Zapper pilot study conducted at Seattle Performance Medicine documented dramatic results for endurance athletes using the product. Pilot study participants experienced increased time to fatigue, lowered lactate levels in blood, reduced muscle burn, faster recovery of muscle strength, and decreased muscle and joint soreness.

"I recommend Acid Zapper to anyone," says pilot study participant Tim Becker, director of the CompuTrainer MultiRider Center in Seattle, Washington and USA Triathlon Age Group Master Male Duathlete of 2005. "I don't think it's just about athletic performance; it's a health issue too. So, while Acid Zapper can increase your performance, it also has health benefits beyond just the performance benefits." Becker's dramatic performance improvements were thoroughly documented over the course of the Acid Zapper pilot study. Recently diagnosed with acidosis and experiencing significant discomfort during intense workouts, Becker underwent a baseline test without Acid Zapper and then took a regimen of four Acid Zapper tablets a day for two weeks before retesting. The results surprised him. "I doubled my pedaling time at 300 watts," he says. "I went from 17 minutes [during the baseline test] with lots of discomfort to 34.5 minutes with no discomfort. I was still riding at 300 watts after 34.5 minutes, which I had never done in my life." Then, after two more weeks of using a higher daily dosage of Acid Zapper, Becker retested with even more impressive results: "I went for just over an hour pedaling at 300 watts and never felt any discomfort at all," he says. He now uses Acid Zapper every day.

At a cycling camp in March 2006, Becker shared his discovery with his colleague John Howard, Cycling Hall of Fame member, three-time cycling Olympian, and head coach of the School of Champions at John Howard Performance Sports in Encinitas, California. "Tim introduced me to Acid Zapper and told me about his experiences," says Howard. "My personal response to Acid Zapper was immediate and extremely positive. Possibly because my body was so acidic, I noticed an immediate change. Now, when I go out and tax myself to my limits, I'm keenly aware that something is different, and that something is a positive." Like Becker, Howard doesn't hesitate to recommend Acid Zapper to his fellow athletes and coaches. "I think it's important to look at every possibility for safe performance enhancement," he says. "In my experience, Acid Zapper will make a difference, and you'll notice it right away. Howard documented his own performance improvements using Acid Zapper. "After I started using Acid Zapper my half-mile flat power test on the C.T. went up from 497 watts to 528 and my time dropped from 1:03 to 1:01," he says. "It's become a regular daily supplement of my diet for good reason – it works."

Remarkable as they are, Becker and Howard's experiences are not isolated incidents. Coaches and athletes all over the United States report performance improvements using Acid Zapper. "During my final build for Ironman USA, Acid Zapper improved my recovery," says Scott Horns, USA Triathlon coach at Bella Multisport Coaching in Perrysburg, Ohio. "And during the event my performance was never hindered by acid buildup. I did a 1000TT short course yards and broke 14 minutes for the first time. My experience with Acid Zapper was better than I expected."

"My whole coaching philosophy is based on improving power-to-weight ratios over different periods of time," says Richard Wharton, a USA Cycling Elite Coach in Dallas, Texas who heads up "I began using Acid Zapper in spring 2006. Within a week, my watts per kilogram rose 10 percent, and my performance in both longer and shorter efforts improved dramatically. I now recommend Acid Zapper to all of my athletes and endurance cyclists. Less fatigue, a lowered chance of cramping, an improved ability to hit repeat intervals of high intensity – what more could you ask for? I'm a born skeptic, but Acid Zapper really does work."

"When you train hard your systems' pH becomes very acidic," says Jay Marschell, a USA Triathlon Level 2 coach at Coach Jay Training in Billings, MT. "With Acid Zapper, you control your alkaline levels so you perform better. My legs feel much better on a consistent basis since I have been taking Acid Zapper. No one likes how going hard can feel on your muscles," Marschell adds, "With Acid Zapper you'll feel better and go faster."

"I have tried a number of well-known products claiming performance gains and improved recovery and I have never been able to clearly quantify the benefits until taking Acid Zapper," says Simon Butterworth, a Certified USA Triathlon Level I Coach in Louisville, Colorado. Butterworth moved to the Boulder area in 2006 and, for the first time in his life, was living and competing in a location with significant altitude. "I started taking Acid Zapper just before the 5430 race series (Sprint, Olympic and Long Course)," he says. "In all three races (and six of the Boulder Reservoir Stroke and Stride Series) I did not suffer from any muscle burn in the push to the finish or on the big hills." Even more important to Butterworth, he says, "There was no muscle soreness 1-2 days after the event. I won my Age Group in both series equaling my 5k Personal Record in the past five years (which were all set at sea level) and I won all three triathlons by wide margins. I finally feel I have found something that works," Butterworth says of Acid Zapper.

TAMER Laboratories will make Acid Zapper product samples available at the Acid Zapper booth (#204) at this year's Interbike International Bicycle Expo, in Las Vegas, Nevada (September 27-29). John Howard will be on hand each day at 10:30 AM and 3:00 PM to talk cycling and share his experiences using Acid Zapper.
